Artis, I read your article at Mises.org Good stuff. I am an engineer and manufacturer, have created multiple businesses without need for debt, and brought a few back from near failure, again without taking on debt or needing outside investors. We have never done debt in our family, either, it's not in our DNA. Our children apprenticed after high school, no need for college or college loans. ALl have succeeded in their careers chosen as teens. I suggest you study the Mennonites for inspiration. They are savvy business people, do not need debt, reject government programs including medicare and social security, have their own schools through the 8th grade and then learn skills by doing useful things for pay, ie apprenticeships. My wife and I started the Mises Club Carolinas two years ago, 250+ members strong, with many debt-free entrepreneurs. We understand the fear of failure, but I would call it more the sense of responsibility we have towards our family and employees, and our disdain for any form of government meddling in our lives and businesses. As people of faith, we have no real fear, trust in God for everything. Kent Misegades, president, AeroSouth Technology, Seven Lakes, NC.
